In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we want to introduce you to upcoming artist Willis and his brand new single titled “Too Much”.

The experimental hip-hop artist tackles toxic relationships in new single “Too Much”.
Born and raised in California, Willis is known for his chilled lo-fi beats and explosive West Coast flow. His new song, drawn from personal love troubles, details someone unable to break free from a toxic partner due to a cycle of seduction and manipulation tactics.

This is the first song released under the rapper’s ‘Neighbor Lee’ alter-ego. Lee, being the rapper’s middle name, plays off the word ‘neighborly’ and represents a guy-next-door persona that lets Willis detach from his own experiences and self-express more freely.

The bright melodies and bouncy vocal cadences make the track feel deceptively happy, a direct reflection of the relationship struggles outlined in the lyrics. This dichotomy between playful, upbeat delivery and heavier subject matter in ‘Too Much’ is typical of Willis’ artistic style, which tends to draw on unconventional melodies and samples to creatively subvert expectations.
